Connecting with Other Marketing Professionals
It seemed to me that we all struggle with similar things and celebrate similar victories but individually, separately. Unless we meet face-to-face (at conferences, for example) and maybe not even then – we don’t share them with each other. We don’t tap into another marketer’s experience (and by that I don’t mean the expertise that some of us share on social media) – I mean the life lessons we learned in our jobs.
So I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with fellow professionals who, like me, want to share their knowledge with others.
Connecting with people is definitely the part I enjoy the most about this podcast.
HELPING MARKETING BEGINNERS
The other reason behind this podcast is to answer the questions of marketing beginners, people at the start of their careers like I was back in 2011. When I got my first full time marketing role, I was the only marketing person in the company and - though I am very grateful to the company and the director who hired me - I had to figure it all out by myself (yes, they trusted me a lot). I had a university degree in Business Management but little practical experience.
I realise that other people may be in the same situation. I want to be the voice of experience and encouragement for you.
Or you may be at the college/university stage or at the stage where you’re considering a career change and are looking into marketing. You may be asking yourself questions like ‘’How do I know if marketing is for me?”, ‘’What is marketing about beyond what the textbooks say and what I see on social media?’’
We talk about all of this on my podcast. My guests are experienced marketing professionals, and entrepreneurs who know and love marketing and are in the best position to advise the newer generation of marketers. They speak from experience, I do too so you can consider us your on-demand marketing career advisers (or your marketing big brothers and sisters - as you prefer :)
